Senja
Senja is Norway's second-largest island and has the same combination of jagged peaks, dramatic fjords, and small fishing settlements as Lofoten. Norwegians sometimes call it 'Norway in miniature' because of the variety of landscape compressed into a small space — from arctic tundra in the east to dramatic coastal cliffs in the west. International visitor numbers are a fraction of Lofoten's, meaning the coastal trails and fishing village viewpoints are available without competition.

2hrs from Tromsø by car. Connected by bridge to mainland Norway. Car required.

Less developed tourist infrastructure than Lofoten. Harder to reach. The accommodation options are more limited.
